Somalia Plan an Outline

Economically, in the last rainy season, Al-shabab reached another milestone. In the agriculturally fertile south Somalia, they have harvested a record amount of agricultural produce which indicates their ability to move towards self sustainability.

These record harvests are occurring just as world food prices are skyrocketing. This is huge news, at least relative to Somalia's tiny but fast-growing economy.

What Comes Next in Yemen?

Even though there are areas in Yemen that lack formal state control, this does not mean that they are ungoverned—there are local mechanisms that maintain a level of order.
